Purchase Additional Domain Names and Forward Them

If you want your website to be accessed by multiple domain names, then you can.  Having multiple domain names will give your visitors more ways to find you.

For my personal training side gig, I have three domain names registered.  I have my main domain name, Fightaholic.com, but I forward another domain name, NewnanMMA.com, to Fightaholic.com.  I give MMA lessons in the Newnan, GA area, and Newnan and MMA are both in the first domain name. (more…)

QR Codes

QR Codes stand for Quick Response Codes.  More people are browsing the internet with their cellphones, and typing up a website address is more tedious with a phone.  If you have a QR Code scanner, you don’t have to type in a website address.  You just scan the code, and you’re either taken directly to that page or you’re given the URL to click on. Keep Your Websites in One Spot with a RSS Reader

Posted by on Oct 17, 2011 in Blog | 0 comments

With a RSS Reader, you can read all of the latest stories from all of your favorite news websites.  There’s no need to visit the actual website.  Everything is laid out on a silver platter for you.  You just have to subscribe to a website’s RSS Feed so you can have it appear on your RSS Reader.

If you have a blog on your website, then you have a RSS Feed.  If you don’t have a blog, I would suggest getting one. (more…)

Get a Yelp Business Listing

Yelp is the Facebook of online business review sites.  Customers leave one to five star reviews on businesses.  I go to Yelp whenever I’m researching a new business, and it’s never steered me wrong.  The cream always rises to the top.  I’ve used them for a variety of services from eating out to getting my car brakes done to getting a haircut.  The reviews are legitimate, and suspicious reviews are filtered out. Where to Find Free and Paid Stock Images

Posted by on Oct 4, 2011 in Blog | 0 comments

You may want to use stock images if you can’t afford a professional photographer and/or don’t have enough photos for your website. Professional photos definitely help your website look…….more professional.  Over the years, I’ve used photos from the following websites:

Free Stock Photos

www.flickr.com

Flickr’s Creative Commons Collection – Lots of photographers and artists on here don’t mind sharing their photos for free just as long as you credit them for their work.  I’ve found lots of professional photos on here as well as background and textures for websites.  Just be sure to look at the licensing part of the photo’s page.  If it says “All Rights Reserved”, you may want to leave it alone.  Here’s it says, “Some Rights Reserved”, then click on it and read the conditions.  Here’s a sample of a license in which you can use a photo for free.

www.sxc.hu

Stock.Xchng – This is the number free stock photo website.  Many of the photos you can use for free without having to credit the photographer.  They were recently bought by iStockPhoto.  When searching for free photos, be aware that iStockPhoto puts the free photos in between the paid photos.  You can view the licensing below each photo when you click on it.  Some photos will require you to notify the photographer when using their work.

You DO NOT want to use Google Images for free photos.  The free images aren’t as good as the paid images, but hey, they’re free. (more…)

Check your website keyword density

Keyword Density Report on one of Fightaholic.com's pages

A great SEO tool to use is the Keyword Density Analyzer Tool.  It checks for the most prominent keywords in your website pages.  It’ll show you results for single keywords, two keyword phrases, three keyword phrases, and four keyword phrases.

If the keywords you want to be ranked for aren’t showing up in this data, you may want to revise your content by putting in those keywords.  Some places where you could insert some keywords and keyword phrases are:

  • Your headings
  • Your links
  • Bullet points
  • Bolded and italicized text (more…)

Make Your Website Pages Printer Friendly

Posted by on Sep 26, 2011 in Blog | 0 comments

You can get a button with a printer icon like this on your website at PrintFriendly.com

You can get a printout of any website without all of the “filler” graphics in the header, footer, or sidebar by going to PrintFriendly.com. The website lets you take out any section you don’t want to print.

If you want to put a PrintFriendly button on your website, you can insert a small piece of HTML code into your website or install the PrintFriendly plug-in if you have a WordPress website.

Want to see it in action?  Just click on the Printer and PDF Icon in my sidebar section.
