  3. Updating a Business’ Hours of Operation on Facebook Page (Mobile Phone)

This blog post was originally published on Jan 5, 2016, but it has been updated a few times to show you the most accurate way to update a Facebook company page‘s hours of operation. You can now update a Facebook Company Page’s hours of operation on a desktop computer and mobile device. I’ll show you how to update them on both.

Updating a Facebook Company Page’s Hours of Operation on a Desktop Computer

I’ve marked where you need to click to edit your Facebook page’s business hours.

To change a Facebook company page’s hours of operation on a desktop computer:

  1. Click the About tab that is on the leftmost sidebar menu below your Facebook company page’s cover image.
  2. Mouse over your company’s business hours and click the edit link.
  3. A modal window will pop up. In there, you can edit your business hours. If your business has two sets of operating hours in a day, you can click the “+” button to add the second set of hours.
  4. To mark your business as closed on a particular day, uncheck the box next to that day.
  5. When you’ve made all of your changes, don’t forget to click the Save button.

Alternatively, you can also do it this way:

Edit a Facebook Page's Business Hours (Alternate Method)
  1. Click the Edit Page Info link on the top right of your Facebook company page.
  2. Edit your business hours.
  3. Click the Save Changes button.

If you don’t see a place to edit your company’s hours of operation, then you will need to select another main category. Facebook allows you to add up to three categories. One category that will allow you to add/edit your company’s hours of operation is Local Business. Hours of operation only show up for certain business categories, so if you don’t see any hours of operation, select a different first category. I can tell you that if you select Local Service as your first category, you will be able to add your business’ hours of operation.

Can You Update Holiday Hours on Your Facebook Page?

At the moment, I don’t see any option on Facebook to do this. There is a workaround though, but it costs money. If you let Yext have access to your Facebook page, then you can set your business’ holiday hours in their dashboard. Here’s a screenshot of the holiday hours section in Yext’s dashboard:

Edit Facebook holiday hours via Yext Dashboard

Yext can control up 70+ listings, so your business’ holiday hours would be updated on all of those listings at once. Here’s my post on whether Yext is worth the cost.

Selected “No Hours Available” and Can’t Bring Them Back?

Someone had asked me this in the comments below. I’ve never selected “No hours available”, so I tried it, and sure enough, the option to edit a Facebook company page’s hours of operation disappeared.

Never fear! I quickly found out that if you scroll back to the top of your Facebook company page, you’ll see a link that says “Edit Page Info” a little below your company page’s cover photo. Click that link, then click the Hours tab, and add your hours back in. Watch this video below if you didn’t understand what I said.

Updating a Facebook Company Page’s Hours of Operation on a Mobile Device

To change a Facebook Company Page’s hours of operation on a mobile phone, you will need to:

1. Tap the Gear Icon on the top right of your screen.

2. Tap the Page Info link.

3. Tap Your Business Hours

4. Tap the Edit Hours button.

5. Edit your business hours and click the Done button.

If you don’t see a place to edit your company’s hours of operation, then you will need to select another main category.

I am not getting “add hours” button.

  2. Tom Nguyen on January 3, 2017 at 11:05 pm

Thanks for commenting. The button is still there. Check out the blog post again. I just updated it.

  3. Sarah on January 5, 2017 at 7:24 pm

For some reason, my main page will not display the hours of operation. I want it to be featured on the main page without users having to navigate to the “about” section. Do you know how to make this possible?

  4. Tom Nguyen on January 6, 2017 at 12:32 am

Thanks for commenting, Sarah. Unfortunately, the About section is where the hours of operation are shown and not the Home/Main section. The home section of a Facebook company page will say something about the hours of operation automatically if you fill out the hours of operation section in the About section though.

  5. Bethan on February 10, 2017 at 5:22 pm

Please help, I had my page set up as a business and there wasn’t an hours section available, at all. Now set up as a Professional Service and still, there is no hours option. I’ve looked a million times over, there is no option for me to add opening hours. I would love to be able to add them, please help.

  6. Tom Nguyen on February 15, 2017 at 6:08 am

The option is there if you set up a company page. What is your Facebook page URL?

  7. Nicola on February 22, 2017 at 6:26 am

Hi, I don’t have an hours option available/visible that I can see… how do I change to a company page to allow this AND/OR what else am I missing? Thanks!

  8. Tom Nguyen on February 25, 2017 at 7:00 am

Nicola, to create a company page, go to our Social Media Resources page at There’s a link to create a Facebook business page. What’s your Facebook page URL? If you post it here or send me an email, I’ll be able to tell if it is a personal or business page.

  9. Nicola on February 27, 2017 at 8:47 pm

Hi Tom, after further feedback from yourself, I’ve clarified that I certainly do have a business page, however the first category listing must be “local business” in order to show hours. To do this, I clicked “About” on the left hand side, “Edit Page”, and then the first category needs to be “local business”. Thanks for your valuable assistance!

  10. Tom Nguyen on February 27, 2017 at 8:48 pm

Glad to help, Nicola, I take it that you received my email?

  11. Tom Nguyen on February 27, 2017 at 9:08 pm

Bethan, please check to see if your business is listed in the Local Business category. If it’s not, you will need to add that category as the first category in order for the hours of operation to show.

  12. Laurie on April 16, 2017 at 9:38 am

I operate a “local business” page and made hours “not visible” for a holiday. Now, I don’t see any option to turn them back on.

    Can you help?

  13. Tom Nguyen on April 18, 2017 at 6:46 pm

I sure can, Laurie. I updated this blog post to answer your question, but I’ll answer it here as well. You can scroll up and click the “Edit Page Info” link that is below your company page’s cover photo. You’ll see an Hours tab there.

  14. Laurie on April 18, 2017 at 7:42 pm

Thank you so much for your answer. Unfortunately, no hours tab shows for me. Do you have any other thoughts on what could be happening?

  15. Tom Nguyen on April 19, 2017 at 11:49 am

Yes. Local Business has to be the 1st category in order for the hours of operation to show up.

  16. Laurie on April 19, 2017 at 11:59 am

I see now! Thank you very much for your help. I’m so happy Google sent me your way. You’re more helpful than Facebook’s own support team!

  17. Tom Nguyen on April 19, 2017 at 12:13 pm

That’s quite a compliment, Laurie! Glad to have helped.

  18. Connie on August 14, 2017 at 11:46 pm

Hello i am so frustrated with this stupid Facebook removing the hours info when i selected no hours. I get NO tab that says Hours when i click page info i have sat here for over an hour and still cant get back my hours of operation back. This is a big fat facebook FAIL. I have gone over everything you show above and still can not find and get my hours back? Help please? Thank you

  19. Steve G on August 19, 2017 at 1:31 pm

Thanks for the info and advice.
Our business is only open EVERY OTHER Saturday.
Is there a way to specify this?

  20. Tom Nguyen on August 21, 2017 at 3:32 pm

Connie, did you watch the video? I explain this in the video in the “No Hours Available” section above (click here to go there). There’s an Edit Page Info link in the About section. You need to click on that to bring back the hours.

Facebook Company Page Edit Page Info Link

  21. Tom Nguyen on August 21, 2017 at 3:46 pm

Steve, Facebook doesn’t allow you to do this. If you wanted to let your customers know, you could create a post and pin it to the top of your page. Another option would be to purchase a Yext subscription and add your Saturday hours in the holiday hours section. That’s a lot of money to spend just to business hours though.

  22. Josh on December 24, 2017 at 3:59 pm

Hi Tom, I have a similar issue as Connie had where I clicked no hours which in turn removed the business hours. However when I followed your process in the edit your profile section I am not getting an hours tab. Several people seem to have the same issue from all of the Facebook community pages yet I haven’t seen a solution towards fixing the problem

  23. Tom Nguyen on December 26, 2017 at 9:38 pm

Josh, I just tried it on a dummy Facebook Company page, and I was able to get the Hours tab to show up. What category did you choose for your Facebook company page? For certain first categories, the Hours tab will not show up. I used Local Service, and the Hours tab showed up when I refreshed my browser. Try changing your business’ category to Local Service, save your change, then refresh your browser. Let me know either way if the Hours tab shows up.

  24. Josh on December 27, 2017 at 12:21 am

Tom, you are a genius! Thank you that did the job, you just brought the anxiety level down a few degrees. Thank you very much

  25. Josh on December 27, 2017 at 12:35 am

Hi Tom, you are a genius! That did the trick. For whatever reason Facebook support cannot seem to lay it out in layman’s terms like you just did with their newer format. Thank you for bringing down the anxiety level a few pegs.

  26. Tom Nguyen on December 27, 2017 at 12:49 am

Josh, thanks for letting me know. Your answers put a smile on my face. I’m glad that you were able to get access to the hours of operation again. I’ll update this post in the next few weeks to included the category part.

  27. Sophia on January 2, 2018 at 10:39 am

Thanks so much for this. I couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work, then I tried changing the Category to Local Service and refreshing, and ta-da – there were the hours again. You’re awesome – thanks!

  28. Tom Nguyen on January 3, 2018 at 6:15 pm

    Glad to help, Sophia.

  29. Tiffany Simpson on May 17, 2018 at 9:17 am

    Hi Tom,
I am hoping you could please help me. Our Facebook page always states Closed when in fact it is open. I have tried to follow your steps but I cannot change the Category from “Local Service” to “Local Business”.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  30. Tom Nguyen on May 17, 2018 at 9:34 am

Tiffany, have you watched the video in the post? You can have business hours even if your category is “Local Service”. Try going to here and clicking the “Edit Page Info” link. You should see an Hours tab on the top right of the modal window that shows up. I got the ball rolling and made a suggestion to Facebook and told them that your business is always open.

  31. Tiffany on May 21, 2018 at 9:36 pm

    Hi Tom

I had viewed your video and have used ‘Edit Page Info’ to add our Mon-Fri hours(Mon- Thurs 07.30 – 16.00 and Fri 07.30 – 13.00). I had also added ‘Local Service’ to my categories and saved it all. However, my problem is still unresolved.

The hours show up on our page, but when I’m viewing at the page at say 10am, (when we are open), the page is saying closed now. In fact, fb only shows our business as open at around 3pm on any working day..

    Any thoughts on this?

  32. Tom Nguyen on May 21, 2018 at 10:16 pm

Tiffany, I did some researching, but I couldn’t find an answer. So, until you can get Facebook to solve your problem, why don’t you play around with the opening and closing hours? At 7:30 am your time, why don’t you increase or decrease the opening hour until your Facebook page says you are open. Add or decrease 8.5 hours to your closing time as well. The hours won’t be accurate, but at least Facebook will say you are open when you are.

Maybe go to to contact Facebook.

You could also click the question mark icon on the top right, then click the Report a Problem link.

  33. Tiffany on May 22, 2018 at 2:45 am

Well thank you very much for your time! I thought I was going crazy with the hours not showing accurately. Appreciate all you’ve done. Thank you so much

  34. Casey on June 21, 2018 at 12:42 am

I’m trying to change my business hours from set hours to no hours listed and it keeps saying that it can’t save it try again

  35. Jennifer D'Alberto Kavensky on June 26, 2018 at 8:19 pm

Okay so when I hit save it
Says your changes weren’t saved please try again
    Please help
Also my address does not show up on my page even though it is there on the back end

  36. Tom Nguyen on June 26, 2018 at 8:36 pm

    Jennifer and Casey,

I was able to change the business hours on my own business page and on a dummy Facebook company page. I’m using Google Chrome on a MacBook. What browser are you using? Maybe try a different browser if you’re having problems.

  37. Tom Nguyen on June 26, 2018 at 8:42 pm

The reason why your address isn’t showing up on your page is because you have Social Club as one of your categories. If you remove that category, your visitors will see your address again.

  38. Angel on June 28, 2018 at 4:30 am

I haven’t seen it so it might not be available. Has Facebook added the ability to update hour for a special holiday rather than just days of the week? Google allows us to create holiday hours that turn on only for the date selected i.e. if you’re closed for 4th of July only. I haven’t had any luck finding that feature on our FB business page over the past few years but was hoping maybe it’s been newly added and I just can’t find it? Cheers!

  39. Wendy on June 28, 2018 at 7:39 am

Is it possible to change business hours on an iPad? Every time I try it says not saved try again.

  40. Lynn Repak on November 20, 2018 at 10:38 am

I see this question asked back in June, but don’t see a reply….any way to add special holiday hours on Facebook?

  41. Tom Nguyen on November 20, 2018 at 11:17 am

Lynn, thanks for asking the question again. At the moment, you can’t add holiday hours via Facebook, but you can through Yext. To read more about Yext, you can click here to go to the Facebook holiday hours section that I just created.

  42. Douglas on December 4, 2018 at 11:36 am

Hi Tom, I`m having a issue with facebook business and hours.

    I need to change my working hour to 1:20 pm – 6:40pm, but facebook only allows sets between 15 min, like 1:15 1:30 1:45 – 6:15 6:30 6:45.
Is there something to do? Or I`ll have to change my working hours according to facebook will?

  43. Tom Nguyen on December 10, 2018 at 7:46 pm

Douglas, you’ll have to change your operating hours. Every 15 minutes is about as detailed as they get.

  44. Laura on January 21, 2019 at 5:10 am

    Hi Tom,
Somehow my business hours dont add up. I have set the hours till 6pm but at 5pm it says ‘Now closed’ even when you click on the hours its the correct 6pm. I have checked my linked instagram and google business hours but cant find the problem.

    Greetings from Holland!

  45. Jan on February 27, 2019 at 11:50 pm

    Hi Tom!

This guide is most helpful, but I just ran into the problem with business hours. My business operates in 3 sets of timing per day (for a lunch break and a dinner break). I don’t see a “+” to add a third set of hours like you mentioned, and I get a warning notice saying “You can only add two opening hours per day.”

Is there a workaround for this restriction? Thank you!

  46. Hannah on May 15, 2019 at 6:35 am

My Facebook business page won’t let me overwrite 09:00-17:00 as my open hours. any ideas with this one? TIA

  47. Veenus on July 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm

Dear Tom, my Facebook business page won’t let me change the closing time to 00:00, but other options are available.

  48. Tom Nguyen on August 12, 2019 at 4:19 pm

Jan, you can only add two sets of hours per day. I apologize for saying that you can add more than two setts of hours per day. I’ve removed that part from this post.

  49. Tom Nguyen on August 12, 2019 at 4:24 pm

Hannah, what do you see when you try to update your hours of operation?

  50. Tom Nguyen on August 12, 2019 at 4:26 pm

Laura, I’m not exactly sure what the problem is. Do your Facebook timestamps match what’s on your computer?

  51. Tom Nguyen on August 12, 2019 at 4:31 pm

Veenus, you could specify 23:59 as your closing time. What if you change your time format from 24h to 12h?

  52. Vivian Yu on October 18, 2019 at 5:45 am

Hi Tom, I’m having an issue with my page’s hours section. I can edit and save my business hours but when I refresh the browser, the business hours still don’t show up. What could be the problem? 🙁 Hope you can help me figure this out.

  53. Tom Nguyen on October 22, 2019 at 5:58 pm

Vivian, I’ve never experienced that issue before. I just updated the business hours from a desktop Chrome browser with no problem.

  54. Car Change on December 12, 2019 at 2:45 pm

Hello Tom. IM having an issue with my Facebook Business page. Every time i change the hours to the hours I want. I click Save changes but when i refresh my page to see if they saved, The hours go back to what they were… I dont know whats going on. I need some help..

Have you tried to do it from a different device?

  56. jason thomas on February 13, 2020 at 11:30 pm

my business is closed for ten hours during the day but i open at 10pm and stay open until noon the next day. because i can only add my hours on a single day at a time facebook is telling people at around 1130 that i am closing soon, then around midnight it will say i am open again. this could be bad for my business. is there any way around this?

  57. Samantha Newman on February 17, 2020 at 7:57 pm

Hi, I’ve tried absolutely everything on my Fb business page and my hours are still not showing, It’s driving me crazy! It’s saving my hours just not showing them, I’ve done it on computer and phone. Help!

  58. Tom Nguyen on February 18, 2020 at 11:50 am

Jason, what if you put down 10 pm – 12 pm as your hours? I did that on a dummy Facebook page, and this is what shows up.

Dummy Facebook company page business hours evening to noon the next day

  59. Tom Nguyen on February 18, 2020 at 11:56 am

Samantha, I would need to know more info about your page. Please share the url on here, and I’ll take a look. An issue that might prevent business hours from being shown is your category.

  60. jason p thomas on February 18, 2020 at 12:10 pm

my hours are 10pm-12pm because that is the end of the day. i cant be open til noon the next day because that is a new day. and so the problem is that it is telling people that i am closing soon because the day ends at midnight and another one begins

  61. Tom Nguyen on February 18, 2020 at 3:20 pm

Jason, as mentioned in my previous reply, I was able to add 10 pm to 12pm to my dummy Facebook page. You can specify a time on the next day. If you couldn’t, then nightclubs would be out of luck. Here is an example of a local bar’s Facebook page which is open from 11:00 am to 3:00 am.

  62. jason p thomas on February 18, 2020 at 10:35 pm

thank you Tom Nguyen. i changed my hours from starting at 10pm and closing at 12pm, which would actually be the next day but it seems to work and i think i fixed the problem. it doesnt say closing soon anymore. thank you very much

  63. Tom Nguyen on February 19, 2020 at 9:21 pm

    Jason, glad I could help.

  64. Renee Roy on May 14, 2020 at 3:18 pm

I have added business hours on a newly created Facebook business page but show as if office is closed but shouldn’t be

Hours of operations are from 9 am to 6 pm on Monday, 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 9 am to 3 pm on Fridays

  65. J KAS on June 25, 2020 at 10:57 am

Hi there, I’m having the same problem as Renee. My new FB business page operating hours are correct but it seems like the time zone is wrong. For example, my Mon-Fri opening hours are 830am to 53pm but when I check at any time in the day it always says “closed” and instead it shows “open” when it’s actually at night which has passed 530pm. Any advice? Thx!

  66. J Carter on March 20, 2021 at 9:02 am

Hi Tom I have the same problem as J Kas. It looks like I’m open and hour early and closed an hour earlier than I actually am. Almost like it has me in a different time zone. It was showing closed ALL the time to everyone but myself. I think I fixed that by changing to a Local Business instead of Local Service. But the hours are off by an hour now. Early for both opening and closing. Can you please HELP ME 😫 Thank you.

  67. Tom Nguyen on March 22, 2021 at 12:31 pm

J Carter and J Kas, maybe your page is set up in the wrong time zone? If you could post your FB page’s url in your reply, I could take a look at it when I have free time. Please don’t send the url in an email to troubleshoot it.

  68. Ashley on April 1, 2021 at 12:25 pm

Our business page on Facebook had our correctly selected hours, then all of a sudden it changed to permanently closed. Anytime that I try to change the hours back to what we had on there before, it just goes back to permanently closed. How do I get the hours back to normal?

  69. Yves on April 6, 2021 at 5:59 pm

  70. Tom Nguyen on April 13, 2021 at 9:19 pm

I would try changing your business category although I used Contractor, Construction Company, and Kitchen & Bath Contractor on my dummy FB page, and I was still able to add hours of operation. Sorry that I couldn’t be of any more help.

  71. Sophie on May 7, 2021 at 1:52 pm

I have added my business hours to my fairly newly created business page and no matter what I do the hours do not show on my page.
Everything is ticked and completed as it should but the hours do not show.
I have the categories set to local service and food and drink.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Many thanks

  72. Tom Nguyen on May 13, 2021 at 8:04 am

If you can choose hours, then they should show up in the about section of your FB page. I’ve never had that problem before.

  73. Vivian on May 23, 2021 at 3:52 am

Hi, my problem is even though my page is showing opening hours it’s always has the “Now closed” sign next to it. Even when we’re suppose to be open. The location of the shop is correct so I’m not sure why it’s set to always show the “now closed” sign next to the hours. Any ideas?

  74. Tom Nguyen on June 8, 2021 at 10:29 am

Vivian, based on the comments, this seems to be a common problem. I or none of my clients haven’t had this problem, so I don’t have a solution. Sorry.

  75. Jessica on June 18, 2021 at 6:14 pm

I am trying to set my business hours. When I select it, it shows the hours. I don’t have an exact location because we currently work from home. I feel like I’ve tried everything, I even contacted Facebook. I tried putting the category to local business but there isn’t an option. We are a graphic design company so I didn’t see much in the local graphic designer lol. Do you need to have a physical address to put in hours? I can’t set up automated responses until I fix this issue. I’ve been using Facebook for years and have never been so stumped.

  76. Tom Nguyen on June 21, 2021 at 3:36 pm

Jessica, I tried changing the category of a dummy Facebook page that I manage to Graphic Designer and deleted Local Business, and I was still able to see the business hours. Sorry that I couldn’t help any more.
