It’s been almost a year since I started blogging about my journey to be #1 on Google for Atlanta web design related keyphrases. If you haven’t been following my journey, you can click here to go back to the beginning of it.
My visits have increased drastically. Last month, the Mr. Technique website received around 800 visits. That’s nothing to complain about and is good traffic for a local business. This month isn’t even over and my website visits have more than doubled with over 2000 of them! The only other time that I doubled my website traffic was when I gave some SEO advice on the Manta Forum.
My Google rankings have improved as well. These are my current rankings according to my keyword rank tracker:
|website design Atlanta||2 (Up 10 Spots)|
|web design in Atlanta GA||4 (Same)|
|Atlanta web designer||2 (Same)|
|web designer Atlanta||2 (Up 2 Spots)|
|web design Atlanta GA||2 (Up 4 Spots)|
|website design Atlanta GA||2 (Up to 4 Spots)|
|Atlanta web design||13 (Same)|
|web design Atlanta||12 (Up 3 Spots)|
Keep in mind that these are average rankings. The rankings could be higher or lower depending on where you are searching Google from. So what caused the improvement in rankings and increase in traffic this month? Although there were several factors responsible for the increase in traffic, the biggest factor was being featured on ElegantThemes (* affiliate link), a WordPress premium theme provider. They allowed me to write a Customer Spotlight story (* affiliate link) on how I benefited from using them.
I had no problems writing about the benefits of using ElegantThemes. I’m a big fan of theirs. This version of the Mr. Technique website and the previous version were both made using one of their themes. When my story was published on their blog, ElegantThemes sent out a Tweet to their 18,000+ followers.

Putting links in Twitter posts is definitely a method of generating traffic. I had received more traffic on the day the Customer Spotlight post was published and the day after than I did in the whole previous month.
I received emails from other countries asking me for web design and SEO advice. Just over a week ago, I gave my first consultation to a gentlemen in England using a combination of Skype and Join.me on web design and SEO, and I truly enjoyed it.
We’re almost two-thirds of the way through 2014, and I’m getting really close to that top spot.
