These are great directories, a few I had already submitted too, but thanks for bringing a few new ones to my attention I never knew about. Great info, thanks for sharing.
Hey Tom, Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the directories, but most importantly now these days, thanks for listing the PR, because Google seems to have brought it back strong, where it once didn’t matter as much. I’m slowly climbing in the keyword for Los Angeles web design, but it’s a dominant one, so it’s taken me a while. I’ll be redesigning my site next and adding more quality content, so that should bump me up much faster.
Keep up the great work and thanks again, looking forward to more of your posts.
No problem, Aaron. Sucuri is an awesome service. Their response time is lightning fast on weekdays, and reasonable on weekends. They’ve fixed a few sites for me.

Thanks for the information. Any more ideas, post away!
Great post, Tom! I agree wholeheartedly about the “About” page – so important and always one of the top pages on most of my clients’ sites in Google Analytics. I’m sure all of the copywriters are rejoicing to read this! All the SEO traffic is for nothing if your readers won’t convert.
Thanks for reading my post, Jenny! As you know, copywriting is just as important as the web design. My “About” page has jumped into the #2 spot since this post.
People definitely want to know who they are doing business with.
Tie Loveon July 29, 2014 at 12:42 pm
Most of these would be in my top too. This is my newest favorite theme.. X THEME http://www.theme.co.
It’s mindblowingly incredible what can be done with this theme.
Thanks for the complement and for suggesting another theme, Tie! I saw the X Theme has over 20,000 sales and has good reviews. Have you ever used any of the themes above? If so, which is your favorite one of the 5 that I listed?
SEO takes time and patience. I know I am checking my keyword phrases often. I am a freelance developer trying to make myself known in my local area as well.
Wow great write up it was like i was reading my current SEO struggles. Divi has been good and their blog has led me to many great articles. thank you and will stay tuned and follow.
I am looking to upgrade my blog. I was looking at Canvas but someone recommended Divi. My research so far indicates that Divi is awesome for websites, but that its blogging theme is not very accommodating. What do you think about that?
The Divi blog looks fine to me. Take a look at my blog to see for yourself. I did have to ask ElegantThemes through the support forum about how to add a previous and next post link on individual post pages, but they responded in less than 24 hours.
I still like Canvas a lot. I designed a website for a plastic surgeon in Atlanta using it (http://www.imagecosmeticcenter.com). The website has a blog as well.
Take a look at both websites to see which blog format you like better.
Happy to know that you are receiving more than doubled number of visits, Tom. 🙂
The trend hasn’t just stopped right there. I am a subscriber of elegant themes and I happened to visit your website through them. I feel more and more people will keep visiting your website now. I must say you have got a very good platform to carry on and rock the world.
Thanks, Anshul. ElegantThemes must be heavily trafficked because that blog post is more than two months old, and ElegantThemes is still one of my top referrers. I truly am lucky.
Yes Tom. ElegantThemes is indeed a very popular website and the results are in front of both of us as your blog post which is more than 2 months old is still bringing you loads of visitors. You are lucky and will soon become popular too. 🙂
Thanks for pointing me to your blog. Your SEO journey has been fascinating to read, and I’ve picked up some really useful tips. I’m going to start implementing some of the easier ones like setting up a Google Page.
So I was considering subscribing to Yext but when I saw the price tag I said “YIKES.” We opted instead to sign up with a company called Revlocal but now that I’ve done that, I still feel “taken” because I’m paying Revlocal $299 a month for them to add my company to all the local directories plus I get a “landing page” that is supposed to be keyword optimized. I still don’t like visitors going to the “landing page” that they created prior to being taken to my website but I decided to give it a try for 3 montha. At the end of the day, Revlocal uses the YEXT dashboard to update everything if I’m not mistaken so I’m screwed either way. What are your thoughts on this?
GREAT piece, Tom! Thanks for sharing. Question: I’ve often wondered whether listing your business on reputable directories can actually help your SEO. It seems like it should help if Google sees directory listings as a backlink. I appreciate your thoughts.
I would cancel the Revlocal listing. $299/month is way too much. That’s even more than Yext charges if you multiply it by 12 months.
A good reason why I decided to try Yext is because if I wanted to sell it to my clients, I can offer it on a monthly basis starting at $50/month as opposed the huge lump sum. The client would be able to log in to the dashboard and manage their own account.
I am impressed by the speed at which the updates are made though.
Alan, the business name, address, and phone number should help your local rankings because of consistency. You don’t even need a website to show up in the local portion of Google searches.
The backlinks should help your organic rankings because they are from reputable websites.
Definitely good list but not global. Most of these sites work or list businesses from certain countries. Would appreciate if you can add some authority business aggregator sites which are global or accept businesses from any part of the world. But indeed, your list is truly good.
Thanks for the feedback, Sonia. I’m not a worldwide SEO consultant. Almost all of my clients are in the United States, however, I will add some aggregator websites like Factual and Acxiom in future posts.
April Chapman,
Yext is a small portion of what is included in the RevLocal $299 Local Search Marketing services. The primary business pages of Google, Bing, Yelp, Facebook and Yahoo are managed outside the Yext platform and directly. Alongside Yext, RevLocal also partners with other authoritative database partners.
In addition to business listing management our service include a dedicated Digital Marketing Strategist that brings a real relationship to your business. Like a CMO for your local business. We also have an industry leading digital marketing dashboard that delivers full API integration’s.
The service that Yext provides is only as valuable as the residual content delivered to it. I hope this helps to understand the value of Yext vs. RevLocal.
The postcard option still exists, John. I just had to re-verify my own business. I would say they are worth it. I’ve seen people check in to my clients’ businesses through Swarm, their sister app.
Tom, thanks for documenting your journey so clearly. I’m in the middle of redoing my site and want to focus more on local SEO for both myself and my clients. This is a great blueprint!
Aha! Great article. Actually that is exactly what happened to me. I created a yelp account for a client and they went to leave me a legitimate review and it went to the unfiltered review bin. That explains it. Thanks for sharing!
Proud to say I nudged Brad along on that one when I pointed out to him on Jan 15 “Ooops. http://www.kickstandcreative.com/ is still copyright 2015. All of StudioPress Genesis themes update the year automatically.”
And he replied “What would you have to do if all of our copyright dates were correct? I’d never hear from you! ”
Great post! Would you mind sharing: after you opted out of the other sites: (1) how long did it take for your old listing information to reappear? and (2) did you old listing data reappear on all of the other sites (besides Yelp) (3) why didn’t you opt out of other listings? I mean, why just those, and why those?
I just opted out for my Superpages listing, and my old listing information appeared within 5 minutes. Yext allows you to link a tagline to a page on your website. The link was removed when I opted out for my Superpages listing. My business description text stayed the same and showed up in my Dex Media account. Dex Media manages Superpages.
Before joining Yext, I set up several local listings individually, and each one of them had a different description. I did opt out of a few other listings like Chamber of Commerce, Foursquare, Yahoo, and a few others.
Yext allows you to have a more enhanced listing. For example, you can link a tagline to a page and show a YouTube video. If you set up the listing on the actual local directory website, you wouldn’t be able to have those two items on your business profile page.
If you’re interested in a Yext subscription, I’m offering it on a monthly or yearly basis right here.
Hey Mate thanks for sharing such a good post regarding seo , can i get some more tips get my website in first page of google as i am very new in seo and i am doing for some the website and one of my keywords come to second page but coming in the first page since last 2 month .
Honestly this whole yext thing is terrible for businesses and the yext partners.
Let me explain, I have a few clients who have businesses that are very old, very well known, yet their websites, locations and business names have changed and moved, that said, non of them seemed to want to pay up to have yext update the listings rather they went with the traditional SEO techniques of articles and other non yext affiliated engines. This not only creates old outdated information on the directories that yext manages, it will create rise newer free directories around the WWW.
That’s just my thought on this whole yext take over. As an IT guru, sorry yext, I am swiping next!

Thank’s for sharing this trick!
I’ve tryied all 3 ways but… nothing changed. You know the 4th way? 😉
I’ve been trying for days to get a 2 or 3 column form working in beaver builder, and no luck. You hit the nail on the head with my problem, but this solution didn’t work for me… even tried the plugin that removes the wpautop glitch, but no luck. Also couldn’t find the code in the beaver builder functions.php file, but then again I’m not a coder or a techy. I can’t believe there aren’t more bb users with this same issue. Did you happen to find other resources on this topic? Thanks!!!

For some reason, my main page will not display the hours of operation. I want it to be featured on the main page without users having to navigate to the “about” section. Do you know how to make this possible?
Thanks for commenting, Sarah. Unfortunately, the About section is where the hours of operation are shown and not the Home/Main section. The home section of a Facebook company page will say something about the hours of operation automatically if you fill out the hours of operation section in the About section though.
Please help, I had my page set up as a business and there wasn’t an hours section available, at all. Now set up as a Professional Service and still, there is no hours option. I’ve looked a million times over, there is no option for me to add opening hours. I would love to be able to add them, please help.
Hi, I don’t have an hours option available/visible that I can see… how do I change to a company page to allow this AND/OR what else am I missing? Thanks!
Nicola, to create a company page, go to our Social Media Resources page at https://www.mrtechnique.com/useful-web-developer-links/. There’s a link to create a Facebook business page. What’s your Facebook page URL? If you post it here or send me an email, I’ll be able to tell if it is a personal or business page.
Hi Tom, after further feedback from yourself, I’ve clarified that I certainly do have a business page, however the first category listing must be “local business” in order to show hours. To do this, I clicked “About” on the left hand side, “Edit Page”, and then the first category needs to be “local business”. Thanks for your valuable assistance!
Bethan, please check to see if your business is listed in the Local Business category. If it’s not, you will need to add that category as the first category in order for the hours of operation to show.
Victoron March 1, 2017 at 6:49 pm
i think you meant to say “filtered reviews” not unfiltered
A quick tip on this… I recommend using a Single Line Text Field for the “Invoice Amount” or “Payment Amount” instead of a product field. The reason is that Gravity Forms will calculate the total of all product fields and pass that on to Stripe or Paypal. So if a customer enters $50.00 in the Payment Amount field and then the amount with processing fees shows $51.80, then the customer will be charged $101.80. Using the Single Line Text field type will still enable customer to enter amount of payment and also allows the “Calculation” field to do it’s job. Thusly, customer is only charged the amount in the “Amount (with processing fees)” field.
Jarrod, thanks for commenting. On this form, the customer is only charged the $51.80 in Paypal if they if they enter $50.00 in the Amount product field. I had set up Paypal (on test mode) with this dummy form, so visitors can see.
[…] you want quicker results, you may want to look into using Yext for bulk local citation updates. I’m a Yext Certified Partner, and after a few weeks of using the service I am a believer in […]
I sure can, Laurie. I updated this blog post to answer your question, but I’ll answer it here as well. You can scroll up and click the “Edit Page Info” link that is below your company page’s cover photo. You’ll see an Hours tab there.

That’s quite a compliment, Laurie! Glad to have helped.

I also tried this in a test mode and I have the problem of when I submit offering to pay the transaction fee, it doubles when it goes into paypal. I also tried Jarrod’s suggestion and it only seemed to add in only the paypal cost, not the donation plus paypal cost. Any suggestions?
Thanks for commenting, Lew. I would need to see your form to figure out the problem. Next week, I’ll offer the sample form as a download, so you can see the settings on your own site.
Try deactivating and reactivating the plugin. (you may need to do it twice.) I believe Gravity Forms suggest that option for any version higher than 1.9.13.8
Thanks for chiming in, Ian. Deactivating and reactivating Gravity Forms works, also. I’m going to add this method to the blog post.
Eron July 13, 2017 at 7:18 pm
Great tutorial.
I have a question, my client use Stripe + Gravity, figuring out calculation isn’t hard, but if Stripe been given amount+ fee wouldn’t it take it’s precentage from total?
so $30 cost sent to stripe will cost $30 + 2.6% If I add 2.6% in the form
making it $30.52 and pass it on to Stripe wouldn’t Stripe charge $30.52 + 2.6% or am I missing something
No problem, Er. Were you able to get it figured out?
Melon July 23, 2017 at 4:24 am
Hi, thanks for the tutorial, it has been very helpful!
I have a problem in that I wish to display the total field, however, it displays the calculation total regardless of whether the user has opted to pay the transaction fee. Is there a way around this?
Mel, thanks for reading my blog post, and I’m glad that it has helped. I’m not sure if I’m understanding you. You don’t want to display the calculation total if the user chooses not to cover the transaction fee? On my sample form above, a field showing the total amount doesn’t show if the user doesn’t check the cover fees box.

Thanks for the info and advice.
Our business is only open EVERY OTHER Saturday.
Is there a way to specify this?
Thanks
Germaine, I’ve never used Podio. Have you tried Zapier? They have a free 14-day trial. Thanks for reading my blog post. I plan on updating this regularly.
Connie, did you watch the video? I explain this in the video in the “No Hours Available” section above (click here to go there). There’s an Edit Page Info link in the About section. You need to click on that to bring back the hours.
Steve, Facebook doesn’t allow you to do this. If you wanted to let your customers know, you could create a post and pin it to the top of your page. Another option would be to purchase a Yext subscription and add your Saturday hours in the holiday hours section. That’s a lot of money to spend just to business hours though.
For anyone who finds the formula above isn’t validating, replace the minus sign “-” with a standard hyphen. The example above uses an em dash and the validator didn’t recognize it as an operator.
Interesting, for some reason the minus sign converted to an em dash when I pasted the formula in. It may not happen to everyone but if someone else can’t get the formula to validate, it’s an easy fix and this might save them some frustration.
Nickolas, I don’t know anything about them, but it looks like Yext sold Felix years ago (read story).

Hi Tom, I have a similar issue as Connie had where I clicked no hours which in turn removed the business hours. However when I followed your process in the edit your profile section I am not getting an hours tab. Several people seem to have the same issue from all of the Facebook community pages yet I haven’t seen a solution towards fixing the problem
Josh, I just tried it on a dummy Facebook Company page, and I was able to get the Hours tab to show up. What category did you choose for your Facebook company page? For certain first categories, the Hours tab will not show up. I used Local Service, and the Hours tab showed up when I refreshed my browser. Try changing your business’ category to Local Service, save your change, then refresh your browser. Let me know either way if the Hours tab shows up.

Thanks so much for this. I couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work, then I tried changing the Category to Local Service and refreshing, and ta-da – there were the hours again. You’re awesome – thanks!
Hi Tom,
I am hoping you could please help me. Our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/portwellblinds/ always states Closed when in fact it is open. I have tried to follow your steps but I cannot change the Category from “Local Service” to “Local Business”.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Tiffany, have you watched the video in the post? You can have business hours even if your category is “Local Service”. Try going to here and clicking the “Edit Page Info” link. You should see an Hours tab on the top right of the modal window that shows up. I got the ball rolling and made a suggestion to Facebook and told them that your business is always open.
Tiffanyon May 21, 2018 at 9:36 pm
Hi Tom
I had viewed your video and have used ‘Edit Page Info’ to add our Mon-Fri hours(Mon- Thurs 07.30 – 16.00 and Fri 07.30 – 13.00). I had also added ‘Local Service’ to my categories and saved it all. However, my problem is still unresolved.
The hours show up on our page, but when I’m viewing at the page at say 10am, (when we are open), the page is saying closed now. In fact, fb only shows our business as open at around 3pm on any working day..
Tiffany, I did some researching, but I couldn’t find an answer. So, until you can get Facebook to solve your problem, why don’t you play around with the opening and closing hours? At 7:30 am your time, why don’t you increase or decrease the opening hour until your Facebook page says you are open. Add or decrease 8.5 hours to your closing time as well. The hours won’t be accurate, but at least Facebook will say you are open when you are.
You could also click the question mark icon on the top right, then click the Report a Problem link.
Tiffanyon May 22, 2018 at 2:45 am
Well thank you very much for your time! I thought I was going crazy with the hours not showing accurately. Appreciate all you’ve done. Thank you so much

Okay so when I hit save it
Says your changes weren’t saved please try again
Please help
Also my address does not show up on my page even though it is there on the back end
I was able to change the business hours on my own business page and on a dummy Facebook company page. I’m using Google Chrome on a MacBook. What browser are you using? Maybe try a different browser if you’re having problems.
The reason why your address isn’t showing up on your page is because you have Social Club as one of your categories. If you remove that category, your visitors will see your address again.
I haven’t seen it so it might not be available. Has Facebook added the ability to update hour for a special holiday rather than just days of the week? Google allows us to create holiday hours that turn on only for the date selected i.e. if you’re closed for 4th of July only. I haven’t had any luck finding that feature on our FB business page over the past few years but was hoping maybe it’s been newly added and I just can’t find it? Cheers!

Tom, love that this article is responding to clients request. Makes me want to try out Wufoo forms. This article, because of what you put into it – research, well organized helpful graphics, is clearly a labor of love.
Thanks for the kind words, Scott. I started using Wufoo Forms because a friend recommended it to me. I just stuck with them because of their quick response. If your site was built with WordPress, then there are other options like Gravity Forms and Contact Form 7. I like Gravity Forms a lot as well. Wufoo isn’t dependent on any CMS though.

Nice. You’re probably better off forcing the search and then removing anything on your own domain though:

Mysteriously, the dropdown to change profiles on my profile only shows 1 page option. That has happened since I activated the Business Manager. Do you have any idea of what’s happening?
Yes. When you add a page to the Facebook Business Manager, that page is removed out of your personal Facebook account. If you can, you will need to remove the page from the Facebook Business Manager. If you only have one page on the Facebook Business Manager, you won’t be able to remove it. This blog post from Agora Pulse helped me with that.
Cibele, if you only have one Facebook company page in your Business Manager account, you can try to delete your business to bring it back to your personal account, but I have had any luck. You would go to this settings link, then click on the Business Info on the left side. You’ll see a button that says “Permenantly Delete Business”. I wasn’t able to do it though. Maybe you’ll have better luck.
Cibele, do you see a left arrow by your company profile? If so, perhaps clicking it could help. Click here for more info on how to do that.
Jennyon October 26, 2018 at 10:50 am
Thanks for this thorough article. Unfortunately, when I click on the left arrow, it only shows my page and not my personal profile. I am one of several “editors” on the page, not the admin, and I want to be able to like posts as myself. I can’t figure out how to do that. I’ve also searched the Facebook help section, and nothing is working. Thoughts?
Jennyon October 26, 2018 at 10:59 am
I figured it out! On my page, I went to Settings and then clicked Page Attribution in the left sidebar. There I had the option to post as either the page or myself. I chose myself and when I went back to the page, I could then like and comment as myself. It looks like I can’t create a new post as myself, but that’s OK. I want to write posts as my page, but then react to posts (especially posts written by other editors) as myself. This has been driving me nuts, and I’m so glad it was a simple fix! 🙂
[…] to build the registration process in Gravity Forms and use Stripe for the payment processing. With a little trick we learned from Mr. Technique, we added an optional checkbox that allows attendees to “cover” the credit card […]
Lynn, thanks for asking the question again. At the moment, you can’t add holiday hours via Facebook, but you can through Yext. To read more about Yext, you can click here to go to the Facebook holiday hours section that I just created.
Jillon November 26, 2018 at 10:30 am
Jenny…have you figured out how to change the Page Attribution on the mobile app? I can like posts as myself on the page that I’m an Admin as long as I’m using the desktop version of Facebook. Once I switch to the mobile app I am again reacting to posts and comments as my page and not my personal profile. I have an Android (Samsung Galaxy 8+). If anyone has figured this out for the mobile app…I’d love to hear how.
Jenny, I was able to create a post or comment on an existing post as myself on a desktop computer regardless of what I chose in the Post Attribution section. The only difference was if I selected the post as myself option, the post would be attributed to my personal profile by default.
Jill, on my iPhone, regardless of whether I chose to post as myself or the company page that I’m managing, the post would be attributed to the company page by default. I was able to attribute posts to myself though. Just to clear things up, on my iPhone, I am using the Facebook app and not the Facebook Pages app when I’m posting or commenting as myself.
Robon November 27, 2018 at 2:28 pm
I can’t do this on the iPhone app.

I’ve never used the Gravity Forms extension for WooCommerce. I contacted Gravity Forms support about it, and they told they are not familiar enough with the extension to give an answer. They recommended that you contact WooCommerce about it.

Thanks for this insightful tutorial! Is there a way to make the form display the formula for different products totaled together.
So If I’m ordering 2 adult meals at $5 a piece, plus 2 kid’s meals at $4 a piece it will take the total calculation of that and then add the payment processing to the whole total and not just the individual items?
I’m not sure if I understand you, Josh. The fee is added to the total amount. If there were multiple items selected for purchase, I believe you could use the Total field to add up the prices of items selected for purchase. Then, you could add the transaction fee to the total.
Great tutorial Tom, bookmarking this post for sure 🙂

Hi Tom. I’m an admin for our nonprofit page and would like to add a photo to one of the comments that another admin posted as myself, not the page, but when I click on the dropdown and select my personal profile, the camera icon for posting a photo disappears. Do you have any advice? Thanks in advance.
Kurt, are you using the Facebook iPhone app? If so, I was able to reproduce the error once. I either cancelled the post or reselected my company page, and I was able to see the camera icon. I wasn’t able to reproduce the error again. Try toggling back and forth between your personal and company profile. If that doesn’t work, you could try canceling and restarting the post. Here’s a screenshot showing the camera icon when I’m posting with my personal profile on my company page:
If that doesn’t work, you could just post from your personal profile on a desktop computer. The Photo/Video option never disappears there.
Kurton January 30, 2019 at 10:53 pm
Hi, Tom. Sorry, I should have been more clear…this is through the Facebook website on my laptop, not the iPhone app. I flipped back and forth with the profile, but no luck.
Kurt, on the Facebook website on my desktop, there is no camera icon. Here’s a screenshot:
I’m using Chrome on a MacBook. What browser are you using? And can you provide a screenshot of your post?

Great article – my question is that the “Total” pricing field cannot be used in calculations. I basically want the customer to select multiple items that should all be summed up to a “Total” but then if they select that they want to pay with Credit Card, I’d like to add the PayPal fee. If you try to use the Total field in the calculation it ends up creating a circular reference because the Total field automatically sums up all the Product Fields on a page (and in your example the Amount w/fee) is a Product Field. Just wondering if there are any other options.
I’m not sure why you are having problems. Can you go into more detail?
Janon February 27, 2019 at 11:50 pm
Hi Tom!
This guide is most helpful, but I just ran into the problem with business hours. My business operates in 3 sets of timing per day (for a lunch break and a dinner break). I don’t see a “+” to add a third set of hours like you mentioned, and I get a warning notice saying “You can only add two opening hours per day.”
Is there a workaround for this restriction? Thank you!
I have the same question (or similar) to PTA above.
I want to add the 2.9% fee to the paypal option, but not for my “Bill me” and “Pay by check” options.
This for a B2B transaction, so we are only passing on the fee to another business.

How can I use the Total field? Payment Amount does not work for me, it only calculates half of the fee. Gravity forms says Payment Amount:# field does not exist.

Jan, you can only add two sets of hours per day. I apologize for saying that you can add more than two setts of hours per day. I’ve removed that part from this post.
Veenus, you could specify 23:59 as your closing time. What if you change your time format from 24h to 12h?

I was battling with this too. Here’s what works for me: I have an iPhone with the Facebook ‘Pages’ app installed for the companies I am Page Admin of (Orange Flag icon) I also have the normal Facebook app on my phone (White f on blue background)
When I am commenting as the company I am posting for I use the Pages/Orange Flag App.
When I want to comment as myself on a company page, I access via my personal FB app. I type the company name in the search bar, it comes up, I go to the post and comment as myself .

Like many here, I also experience problems with this.
I switch on the side bar to “myself” and post the comment. Once it posts my personal icon appears next to the comment, but seconds later my name and icon are replaced with the group I manage.
Switching between web browser and the app have the same result. I effectively am unable to comment as myself unless I switch to desktop.

Did Facebook change this option? Your article is “so much” last year 😉
I can comment as everyone of my profiles. However, I cannot post a new post in any other name than my company. The option is not to be found using your guide.

Hi Tom, I’m having an issue with my page’s hours section. I can edit and save my business hours but when I refresh the browser, the business hours still don’t show up. What could be the problem? 🙁 Hope you can help me figure this out.
Crystal, I don’t think it’s possible yet. I’ll test on my Android tablet. If I find that I can post personally on a managed Facebook company page, I’ll let you know.
Nguyen, what kind of errors?
Mark M.on November 14, 2019 at 12:56 pm
Hi Tom
This is the best resource I’ve found that even comes close to address my issue. Hoping you have some insight.
I have admin access to three different Facebook pages. Only one of these Pages (the company I work for directly) requires me to click a grey bar at the top of the page (Go To Business Manager to Manage this page) if I want to post anything to the Page as the Company. If I do not click that bar, my posts are treated like a Visitor Post from my personal account.
I have full Admin permissions for this Page.
In my Facebook app (latest version as of 11/14/19), the company page discussed above is found under the Pages tab/submenu (orange flag). The other two are listed directly in the Menu. For those Pages, I am able to create a post, see analytics, etc.
For the Page founder under the Pages submenu, I can do none of those things on mobile. I have no Admin access of any kind.
It seems like the Business Manager is the culprit here; the two pages I can access as Admin on mobile don’t have this.
Is there any way to opt-out of it? Any insight as to what my issue could be?
Business Manager is the culprit. Have you tried removing your business page from Facebook Business Manager? Doing so, will allow the Post Attribution feature to work again.
Thank you so much for helping me understand how to comment on a Facebook company page as myself. Man, managing all this computer stuff seems a bit too much for me. I wonder if I could hire some IT guys to help me with this.
Glad you liked the post. Just a general IT guy won’t help you with this. They need to be familiar with how Facebook works. You need a social media manager.

my hours are 10pm-12pm because that is the end of the day. i cant be open til noon the next day because that is a new day. and so the problem is that it is telling people that i am closing soon because the day ends at midnight and another one begins
Jason, as mentioned in my previous reply, I was able to add 10 pm to 12pm to my dummy Facebook page. You can specify a time on the next day. If you couldn’t, then nightclubs would be out of luck. Here is an example of a local bar’s Facebook page which is open from 11:00 am to 3:00 am.
jason p thomason February 18, 2020 at 10:35 pm
thank you Tom Nguyen. i changed my hours from starting at 10pm and closing at 12pm, which would actually be the next day but it seems to work and i think i fixed the problem. it doesnt say closing soon anymore. thank you very much
It’s pretty silly that the Android app process has to be so convoluted and you have to go to a computer to change who you act as (where you could just use the “post/comment/react as” menu there anyway without changing it indefinitely, which would becone a problem when you do want to post as your page and have to go to a computer again to change it, and hope you’ll want to post/comment/react as your page again next time).
Fortunately, I’ve found a workaround! Just go to your mobile browser on your Android and do it there. The regular Facebook mobile page lets you pick who to react/comment/post as, much like the non-Android options explained above (at least in Firefox and Opera, which are the Android browsers I’ve tried it in). If all else fails use “desktop site” on your mobile browser, which should also work.
Hi Tom,
Thank you for sharing this, I had the same problem and your tip helped me out. There is one issue with the code, the quotation marks in your code are the “fancy” kind, not the regular straight kind, so when I copy pasted into my functions.php file they didn’t work, until I figured out to change them.
It’s hard to tell the difference but the first one doesn’t work, the second one does.
Thanks for pointing that out. I actually had the straight single quotes, but they weren’t showing up using the blockquote tag. I didn’t like the way the code showed up when I used the code tag, so I installed the SyntaxHighligther Evolved Plugin. I used to use it before, but I had problems with it. I’m going to give it a shot again. Anyways, the code should be good to copy and paste now.
Georgeon March 2, 2020 at 1:22 pm
Yes the new code format in your article works now, thanks for fixing that. Looks like WordPress (or some plugin you use) changes these quotation marks to be the curly kind. Even in my reply above, now both of them show the curly kind and not the straight one. I guess this is something to be aware of.
Rachelon March 10, 2020 at 3:52 am
Is it possible to comment or post in OTHER groups as the “page” rather than “myself”?
Rachel, unfortunately, I can’t answer that. That’s a whole other subject that’s outside the scope of this post.
Sarahfinaon March 22, 2020 at 3:59 pm
Hi Tom, I see you have updated the post and answered a few comments, but it looks like since they removed the page attribution section – you have found no way to post a new post on a page you manage as yourself and not the page?
Thanks!
Sarahfina, I address that in the post update. Yes, they removed it, and I don’t know of a way to post a new post as yourself on a company page.

Tom,
Thanks a lot for all this info.
My problem is that on my desktop I can comment either as my company or myself. Looks like no problem on desktop.
But on the iphone, in FB app, I can’t comment on someone’s question as my company!! Only as myself!!
So it looks weird, because when I at my computer I can do company’s comment, when on iphone I can’t.
Why is it so??? No answer anywhere whatsoever!
I was so glad when I saw your site.
Maybe you can help me.
Why isn’t it possible to login to a linked account from a desktop? – Not often that this is needed but when you managing more than one account it’s a lot easier to do that from a computer.
Are there any free desktop applications to do this? (except for Hootsuite)
Jim Smithon April 28, 2020 at 6:11 am
The Facebook iphone app now seems to have the post attribution setting back – and it works too.
Micheal, I don’t work for Instagram, so I don’t know the answer to that. My guess would be that Instagram was built to be a mobile application, and they don’t want people to update their accounts with their desktop computer.
I just registered my coffee roasting business in Las Vegas Cafe do Paraiso with FourSquare and it only gave me the option to pay $20 which I did. It seems to be a high quality listing site. As long as I get 2 coffee customers from it then it more than pays for itself over the long run.

I have added business hours on a newly created Facebook business page but show as if office is closed but shouldn’t be
Hours of operations are from 9 am to 6 pm on Monday, 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 9 am to 3 pm on Fridays
So… is there no way to post to a page for which you’re an admin, as yourself?
The post attribution option described above does indeed seem to have been taken away completely, and the hack (URL) doesn’t work for me.
It would seem there is no way to post as yourself to a page you administer, but I’d love confirmation that I’m not missing something here.
I just did some research by inspecting Google SERPs (CTRL + SHIFT + I when on the page and parse through the code). I found the following XPath selectors. It would be great to get a full list without having to do this trial and error approach.
Keep in mind that results only populate if the SERP actually contains them. i.e. not all search results have a Local 3 Pack or Top Stories or Videos, so for those keywords the resulting fields will be blank.
Meta Description //span[@class=”st”]
Searches Related To //p[@class=”nVcaUb”]
Local 3 Pack //div[@class=”dbg0pd”]
Top Stories //div[@class=”y9oXvf”]
Videos //div[@class=”wCIBKb”]
Matthew, thanks for reading my blog post. Hopefully, you got some use out of it. I tried your Meta Description XPath selector, and it didn’t work. I was able to come up with an XPath selector to produce all of the meta descriptions on a Google Serp, and I put it in this section.
I had already listed the related searches XPath selector at the end of this blog post (before the comments).
I believe my blog post is the best thing you’ll get to a full list of Google Serp XPath selectors that will work.

Thank you for this step-by-step it is incredibly helpful! But I’m only able to get the titles of the search page itself e.g. Title: [search query] Google Search, and not from the individual results like you’ve gotten above. Not sure where I’ve gone wrong, any idea why?
Alexa, thanks for reading my post. If you followed my tutorial correctly, you should be able to see the extracted data if you continue to scroll to the right. I just updated the post, so take a look. Also, the current version (12.0) will display titles and urls together even if you are only extracting the titles. You can download version 11.3 and install it in a different directory if you don’t want to see the results like this.
Hi Tom,
first of all: thanks for that great article, so helpful!
I want to scrape a high number of meta descriptions for one query (>6000 results).
I do only get 100 results – do you have any idea on how to overcome that?
Thank you!
I’ve never run a query for that many results. What would you need 6000 results for? Running a query for 6000+ results might trigger a red flag with Google.

Hey Tom, Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the directories, but most importantly now these days, thanks for listing the PR, because Google seems to have brought it back strong, where it once didn’t matter as much.

Right now im using ” The7 ” i want to split test with Divi in the near future.
I am looking to upgrade my blog. I was looking at Canvas but someone recommended Divi. My research so far indicates that Divi is awesome for websites, but that its blogging theme is not very accommodating. What do you think about that?
Lucy,
The Divi blog looks fine to me.
Did you have to create a separate account from the one you used for your listing?
No, it’s the same one. Manta allows you to manage multiple businesses on the same account.

Glad you found the blog post useful, and thanks for reading my blog. Feel free to ask many questions pertaining to SEO for your website.
Almost all of my clients are in the United States, however, I will add some aggregator websites like Factual and Acxiom in future posts.
its really great operator. thanks for sharing
RevLocal.
Hey Tom,
Just thought I’d let you know that FourSquare have removed the post option. Now its the $US20 or nothing!
Kind of sucks. Are you sure these guys are worth the money?
Cheers,
John.
Thanks, Flo. I’d love to see your results when you’re done, but then again, you’re never done with web design or SEO.
Aha! Great article. Actually that is exactly what happened to me. I created a yelp account for a client and they went to leave me a legitimate review and it went to the unfiltered review bin. That explains it. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome, Lori. Thanks for reading!

Oh wow, I have seen this before. Thanks for the tips – definitely going to try this!
You’re welcome, Lori. Let me know what kind of results you experience.
That is a touching tribute. The WordPress community has lost a great asset and a great friend.
A nice tribute to a great guy. Thanks, Tom.
Thanks for sharing your memories of my brother..
You’re welcome, Brian. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Wonderful words, Tom. Brad was one of my all time favorite people as a friend and as a colleague. I miss him every day.
And then lickity split he wrote https://www.kickstandcreative.com/copyright-year-shortcode/
Gunna miss that guy.
Thanks for sharing that, Frank.
Great post! Would you mind sharing: after you opted out of the other sites: (1) how long did it take for your old listing information to reappear? and (2) did you old listing data reappear on all of the other sites (besides Yelp) (3) why didn’t you opt out of other listings? I mean, why just those, and why those?
Sure, Tina.
Thanks for commenting, Ashley!
Frazer, please read more of my blog posts on what I did to get Mr. Technique to the top of the first page.
Thank you, just what I was looking for!
You’re welcome. Glad I could help!

Does anyone know of a photo gallery that includes a default filter like the CM Business Directory? I want my end user to filter the images by category? It would need to have a filter feature and sit under an existing lightbox that I do not want changed. Thanks for sharing valuable image gallery plugin list.
I appreciate your efforts in compiling these directories. Just a quick question, though. The more directories you set up your citations into, the better, is that right? Thanks for the feedback. Please check out our Local Community Website

Hi!
Thank’s for sharing this trick!
I’ve tryied all 3 ways but… nothing changed. You know the 4th way? 😉
Unfortunately, I don’t know a 4th way. Deleting all of the transients should have worked.
Well thanks a lot for the tip
I’ve been trying for days to get a 2 or 3 column form working in beaver builder, and no luck. You hit the nail on the head with my problem, but this solution didn’t work for me… even tried the plugin that removes the wpautop glitch, but no luck. Also couldn’t find the code in the beaver builder functions.php file, but then again I’m not a coder or a techy. I can’t believe there aren’t more bb users with this same issue. Did you happen to find other resources on this topic? Thanks!!!
I didn’t find any more resources on this. I would suggest contacting Beaver Builder support about this problem.

I am not getting “add hours” button.
Thanks for commenting. The button is still there. Check out the blog post again. I just updated it.
I don’t. Sorry.
Is there a way to make adding the fee optional?
Found answer: https://joe.ventures/blog/2015/pass-along-credit-card-service-fees-in-gravity-forms/
Please help, I had my page set up as a business and there wasn’t an hours section available, at all. Now set up as a Professional Service and still, there is no hours option. I’ve looked a million times over, there is no option for me to add opening hours. I would love to be able to add them, please help.
The option is there if you set up a company page. What is your Facebook page URL?
Glad to help, Nicola, I take it that you received my email?
Bethan, please check to see if your business is listed in the Local Business category. If it’s not, you will need to add that category as the first category in order for the hours of operation to show.
i think you meant to say “filtered reviews” not unfiltered
You’re right. Thanks for pointing that error to me. I corrected it.

Thanks for addressing that, Caitlyn. I’ll update this blog post to show how to make the fees optional.
Jarrod, thanks for commenting. On this form, the customer is only charged the $51.80 in Paypal if they if they enter $50.00 in the Amount product field. I had set up Paypal (on test mode) with this dummy form, so visitors can see.

Hi,
I operate a “local business” page and made hours “not visible” for a holiday. Now, I don’t see any option to turn them back on.
Can you help?
I sure can, Laurie. I updated this blog post to answer your question, but I’ll answer it here as well. You can scroll up and click the “Edit Page Info” link that is below your company page’s cover photo. You’ll see an Hours tab there.
Thank you so much for your answer. Unfortunately, no hours tab shows for me. Do you have any other thoughts on what could be happening?
Yes. Local Business has to be the 1st category in order for the hours of operation to show up.
I see now! Thank you very much for your help. I’m so happy Google sent me your way. You’re more helpful than Facebook’s own support team!
Thanks in a dvance
Please ignore my previous comment
No problem, Er. Were you able to get it figured out?
Hi, thanks for the tutorial, it has been very helpful!
I have a problem in that I wish to display the total field, however, it displays the calculation total regardless of whether the user has opted to pay the transaction fee. Is there a way around this?
Mel, thanks for reading my blog post, and I’m glad that it has helped. I’m not sure if I’m understanding you. You don’t want to display the calculation total if the user chooses not to cover the transaction fee? On my sample form above, a field showing the total amount doesn’t show if the user doesn’t check the cover fees box.
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. It seems to have fixed itself. I’m not sure why. There may have been some conflict elsewhere…
Hello i am so frustrated with this stupid Facebook removing the hours info when i selected no hours. I get NO tab that says Hours when i click page info i have sat here for over an hour and still cant get back my hours of operation back. This is a big fat facebook FAIL. I have gone over everything you show above and still can not find and get my hours back? Help please? Thank you
Thanks for the info and advice.
Our business is only open EVERY OTHER Saturday.
Is there a way to specify this?
Thanks
Very nice. I’ve been using Podio for quite some time and I’m not completely fulfilled by it.
Thanks for chiming in, Mark. I looked at my source code and it actually is a standard hyphen.
Interesting, for some reason the minus sign converted to an em dash when I pasted the formula in. It may not happen to everyone but if someone else can’t get the formula to validate, it’s an easy fix and this might save them some frustration.
Every good thing comes to an end.
This trick no more works. I guess Google has fixed this issue. After all, a big slice of their SERP algorithm is based on back-link profile.
But, nice try anyways.
Keep up the good work. There are only few people out there who use their brains. Rest are only busy picking other people’s mind.
Cheers,
Salan, it still works.
So what are your thoughts on using Felix? The “pay per call” services branched from Yext?
Tom, you are a genius! Thank you that did the job, you just brought the anxiety level down a few degrees. Thank you very much
Hi Tom, you are a genius! That did the trick. For whatever reason Facebook support cannot seem to lay it out in layman’s terms like you just did with their newer format. Thank you for bringing down the anxiety level a few pegs.
Josh, thanks for letting me know. Your answers put a smile on my face. I’m glad that you were able to get access to the hours of operation again. I’ll update this post in the next few weeks to included the category part.
Thanks so much for this. I couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work, then I tried changing the Category to Local Service and refreshing, and ta-da – there were the hours again. You’re awesome – thanks!
Glad to help, Sophia.
I found this post while searching SEO related topics. Very nice tribute. Brought a touch of warmth to my otherwise cold day. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Tom,
I am hoping you could please help me.
Any thoughts on this?
Tiffany, I did some researching, but I couldn’t find an answer. So, until you can get Facebook to solve your problem, why don’t you play around with the opening and closing hours? At 7:30 am your time, why don’t you increase or decrease the opening hour until your Facebook page says you are open. Add or decrease 8.5 hours to your closing time as well. The hours won’t be accurate, but at least Facebook will say you are open when you are.
Maybe go to https://www.facebook.com/help/1126628984024935?helpref=hc_global_nav to contact Facebook.
You could also click the question mark icon on the top right, then click the Report a Problem link.
Well thank you very much for your time! I thought I was going crazy with the hours not showing accurately. Appreciate all you’ve done. Thank you so much
Facebook Android user here. No options to change to my

I’m trying to change my business hours from set hours to no hours listed and it keeps saying that it can’t save it try again
Okay so when I hit save it
Says your changes weren’t saved please try again
Please help
Also my address does not show up on my page even though it is there on the back end
Jennifer and Casey,
I was able to change the business hours on my own business page and on a dummy Facebook company page. I’m using Google Chrome on a MacBook. What browser are you using? Maybe try a different browser if you’re having problems.
Jennifer,
The reason why your address isn’t showing up on your page is because you have Social Club as one of your categories.
Cheers!
Is it possible to change business hours on an iPad? Every time I try it says not saved try again.
Thank you! Very helpful.
Yes Its working. Thanks Alot. TOM, you shared an awesome technique.
Chris, thank for letting me know. I’m happy to hear that the technique worked for you 🙂
Nice. You’re probably better off forcing the search and then removing anything on your own domain though:
“mrtechnique.com” -inurl:mrtechnique.com
Returns about 540 results all which appear to be relevant.
Thanks for the tip, Simon. Using your query did cut down on the results, and I do like the results better. I’ll update this post pretty soon with your tip.
The tiny profile image does not seem to exist in the mobile app. Can be done in Chrome on mobile, but not in the app. At least not on Android.
Chuck, thanks for pointing that out. I opened the Android version on my Chromebook to check myself. I just updated the blog post.
Simon, I just reviewed both queries, and although they differ a little. The amounts of results are almost the same despite the numbers that Google gives.
Sir, I used to check my competitor backlinks through your competitor analysis tutorial, but one problem that is how to check specific keyword backlink via “example.com” -inurl: example.com would you please help me
Meer,
Are you not getting possible places to get backlinks when you run that query?
Ha, I should do this with a picture of my kids. I bet they’d get a kick out of it!
Give it a shot. I’d like to see it when you’re done. Thanks for reading the tutorial.
Thoughts?
I figured it out! On my page, I went to Settings and then clicked Page Attribution in the left sidebar. There I had the option to post as either the page or myself. I chose myself and when I went back to the page, I could then like and comment as myself. It looks like I can’t create a new post as myself, but that’s OK. I want to write posts as my page, but then react to posts (especially posts written by other editors) as myself. This has been driving me nuts, and I’m so glad it was a simple fix! 🙂

I see this question asked back in June, but don’t see a reply….any way to add special holiday hours on Facebook?
Lynn, thanks for asking the question again. At the moment, you can’t add holiday hours via Facebook, but you can through Yext. To read more about Yext, you can click here to go to the Facebook holiday hours section that I just created.
Jenny and Jill, thanks for commenting.
I can’t do this on the iPhone app.
When I go to publish, it is only showing my page details and not the profile!
Thanks for the tutorial! Quick question, would this work using the Gravity Forms extension for WooCommerce? I’m selling blanket kits for my NPO and would like to implement this for the transaction fees associated with purchases (donations). Thanks in advance!
Cam,
I’ve never used the Gravity Forms extension for WooCommerce. I contacted Gravity Forms support about it, and they told they are not familiar enough with the extension to give an answer. They recommended that you contact WooCommerce about it.
Hi Tom, I`m having a issue with facebook business and hours.
I need to change my working hour to 1:20 pm – 6:40pm, but facebook only allows sets between 15 min, like 1:15 1:30 1:45 – 6:15 6:30 6:45.
Is there something to do? Or I`ll have to change my working hours according to facebook will?
Douglas, you’ll have to change your operating hours. Every 15 minutes is about as detailed as they get.
Does this apply to Android app? I’ve been searching and searching.
Rob, the option is there. You have to tap the down arrow by your business name.
Charlotte, this is just for the iPhone app.
Hello
Please tell me how to post on my page as my page
I dont want to post on my page as me
This used to be available but now when I switch, I can’t post at all
Please help
Hi Tom,
Somehow my business hours dont add up. I have set the hours till 6pm but at 5pm it says ‘Now closed’ even when you click on the hours its the correct 6pm. I have checked my linked instagram and google business hours but cant find the problem.
Greetings from Holland!
Glad you found it helpful, Lori!
Thank you!
when i try to click on my personal icon, it doesn’t change over on the mobile version. is there something i need to fix in settings?
is the cellular version problematic I tried but can’t ??
I haven’t had a problem with it. I use the Facebook app not the Facebook Page app. Also, I’m using an iPhone.
I have the same question (or similar) to PTA above.
I want to add the 2.9% fee to the paypal option, but not for my “Bill me” and “Pay by check” options.
This for a B2B transaction, so we are only passing on the fee to another business.
on Desktop, when I try to switch to my personal account, it appears as an option, but if I select it – it just stays on my Page account. Have you seen this before?
I cannot comment as myself on pages my business page has liked. I can comment as myself on mobile but not on desktop. Been like this for a long while. I have even unliked the page,
Hi Tom, in my android phone does not appear the small thumbnail image for change to my page to my profile
May 2019:
Using Samsung mobile and cannot figure out if there is an option for us other than bumping into a browser on phone. (I am well versed in desktop usage) completely frustrating I can’t get this option to work. However, Groups has an easy switch function.

My Facebook business page won’t let me overwrite 09:00-17:00 as my open hours. any ideas with this one? TIA
Page is Forton Commercials
Justis and Edgar, I don’t have an Android phone, so I can’t reproduce the issue. I do have a Chromebook though. I’ll let you know if I find a solution. Jim and Cape Cod Girl, I haven’t experienced your issue.
How can I use the Total field? Payment Amount does not work for me, it only calculates half of the fee. Gravity forms says Payment Amount:# field does not exist.
Thanks!
When I’m on a FB business page, I am able to comment under my personal account. The problem is when I go to reply to people who have replied to my comments. That reply suddenly changes to a reply from my business page account. Can you tell me how to fix this?
Another one great solution is http://truemail.io. Very fast and easy to use, also it has free trial so you can get your first 1000 emails verified for free.
Dear Tom, my Facebook business page won’t let me change the closing time to 00:00, but other options are available.
Kudzu is shut down now fyi.
USCity is now a paid directory
Thanks, Bruce. I knew that, but I just I forgot to update this list. I’ve replaced Kudzu with Tuugo.
Thanks for the update. I see that it is still a free listing, but business verification or a payment is required. I updated the post with that information.
The icon with the user-selection dropdown just isn’t there
Jan, you can only add two sets of hours per day. I apologize for saying that you can add more than two setts of hours per day. I’ve removed that part from this post.
Hannah, what do you see when you try to update your hours of operation?
Laura, I’m not exactly sure what the problem is. Do your Facebook timestamps match what’s on your computer?
Veenus, you could specify 23:59 as your closing time. What if you change your time format from 24h to 12h?
FooGallery is a solid gallery plugin.
When trying to comment as myself on a community page there’s actually anothe Page I am the Administrator of in the comment field. HELP!

U never mentioned how to switch b/n 2 accts via desktop. U only mentioned hootsuite not very helpful for those who dont have hoot.
That’s because you can’t. I mentioned that in my post. I mentioned Hootsuite as an option if you really wanted to switch between accounts on a desktop.

Thanks for the straightforward advice! All I was looking for was if I am able to switch between different accounts on desktop. Love the straightforward and helpful tips!
Did Facebook change this option? Your article is “so much” last year 😉
I can comment as everyone of my profiles. However, I cannot post a new post in any other name than my company. The option is not to be found using your guide.
I’m working from a Win 10 PC
Regards and thx for doing your bit for the internet 😉
Robyn,
Thanks for commenting, and I’m glad I was able to help you.
Kim,
I just updated the blog post. I’m going to update it even more today. I’ve held off on updating any blog posts because I’ve been working on our website’s redesign for the last several months. I hope the new advice helps you, and thank you for reading my posts.
Hi Tom, I’m having an issue with my page’s hours section. I can edit and save my business hours but when I refresh the browser, the business hours still don’t show up. What could be the problem? 🙁 Hope you can help me figure this out.
Vivian, I’ve never experienced that issue before. I just updated the business hours from a desktop Chrome browser with no problem.
How can I comment as myself in the Facebook android app?
I see errors on mobile
Crystal, I don’t think it’s possible yet. I’ll test on my Android tablet. If I find that I can post personally on a managed Facebook company page, I’ll let you know.
Nguyen, what kind of errors?
Mark,
Business Manager is the culprit.
When I log out from my account on my computer I can’t log in as my second account since the only choice for log in is my regular private account.
I type in the name of my second account and the password for my åprivate account and I get an error mesage saying that the account name or password is incorrect.
what can I do?
I want to add some photos and thibgs from my computer tyhat I don’t have on my Ipda or phone.
Hello Tom. IM having an issue with my Facebook Business page. Every time i change the hours to the hours I want. I click Save changes but when i refresh my page to see if they saved, The hours go back to what they were… I dont know whats going on. I need some help..
Please update this.
Daniella,
If you want to switch accounts without logging out, you’ll need to do it from your phone.
Have you tried to do it from a different device?
Jax,
It’s been updated multiple times. What are you having a problem with?
Thank you for the helpful information! I am trying to connect by business Instagram to my Squarespace website, but my business account is linked to my personal Instagram. Since I am not able to switch to my business account from my personal Instagram (and since I can only log into my personal Instagram from my laptop), I am wondering if I should separate my two Instagram accounts? Also, if I do separate them and connect my business account to my website, am I able to link my business Instagram and personal Instagram together again afterward?
That’s outside the scope of this article, Emily.
Thanks for sharing all of your experiences!
You’re welcome. I hope you found the content useful.
So basically if you make a second account on your current Instagram there’s not way to log in to it on a cpu? Since it will auto you to your main every time since the accounts both share the same log info?
JD, on a desktop computer, your best best is to use Hootsuite or some other social media manager software.
Thanks Tom for clearing up my search for switching accounts desktop. I’ve been switching on my phone, but wanted the same convenience desktop.
Do you have any insight into why this function isn’t available desktop? If the peeps at Instagram will make this feature in the near future?
My guess is that Instagram is mainly used on a mobile phone. Instagram makes an app for Android tablets, but there isn’t one for the iPhone.
I need to know how to make a snippet
my business is closed for ten hours during the day but i open at 10pm and stay open until noon the next day. because i can only add my hours on a single day at a time facebook is telling people at around 1130 that i am closing soon, then around midnight it will say i am open again. this could be bad for my business. is there any way around this?
Hi, I’ve tried absolutely everything on my Fb business page and my hours are still not showing, It’s driving me crazy! It’s saving my hours just not showing them, I’ve done it on computer and phone. Help!
Jason, what if you put down 10 pm – 12 pm as your hours? I did that on a dummy Facebook page, and this is what shows up.
Samantha, I would need to know more info about your page. Please share the url on here, and I’ll take a look. An issue that might prevent business hours from being shown is your category.
my hours are 10pm-12pm because that is the end of the day. i cant be open til noon the next day because that is a new day. and so the problem is that it is telling people that i am closing soon because the day ends at midnight and another one begins
Jason, as mentioned in my previous reply, I was able to add 10 pm to 12pm to my dummy Facebook page. You can specify a time on the next day. If you couldn’t, then nightclubs would be out of luck. Here is an example of a local bar’s Facebook page which is open from 11:00 am to 3:00 am.
thank you Tom Nguyen. i changed my hours from starting at 10pm and closing at 12pm, which would actually be the next day but it seems to work and i think i fixed the problem. it doesnt say closing soon anymore. thank you very much
Jason, glad I could help.
Pajolovo,
I discussed the workaround at the end of this blog post.
Hi Tom,
Thank you for sharing this, I had the same problem and your tip helped me out. There is one issue with the code, the quotation marks in your code are the “fancy” kind, not the regular straight kind, so when I copy pasted into my functions.php file they didn’t work, until I figured out to change them.
It’s hard to tell the difference but the first one doesn’t work, the second one does.
‘auto_append_eid’
‘auto_append_eid’
Thanks
George,
Thanks for pointing that out.
Yes the new code format in your article works now, thanks for fixing that. Looks like WordPress (or some plugin you use) changes these quotation marks to be the curly kind. Even in my reply above, now both of them show the curly kind and not the straight one. I guess this is something to be aware of.
Is it possible to comment or post in OTHER groups as the “page” rather than “myself”?
Rachel, unfortunately, I can’t answer that. That’s a whole other subject that’s outside the scope of this post.
Ekaterina, have you tried the Facebook pages app?
so impressive ! Chapeau! Love it
So simple, but not knowing it resulted in hours of maddening frustration. Thanks much for this. Cheers.
Glad to help, and thanks for commenting. That inspires me to make more Illustrator blog posts.
Why isn’t it possible to login to a linked account from a desktop? – Not often that this is needed but when you managing more than one account it’s a lot easier to do that from a computer.
Are there any free desktop applications to do this? (except for Hootsuite)
The Facebook iphone app now seems to have the post attribution setting back – and it works too.
Micheal, I don’t work for Instagram, so I don’t know the answer to that. My guess would be that Instagram was built to be a mobile application, and they don’t want people to update their accounts with their desktop computer.
Unfortunately, the post attribution setting isn’t working for me on an iPhone or iPad.
Owen, I’m glad you found my post useful.
Cheers
Michelle
Michelle, you’re correct. There’s not way to post as yourself on a page that you administer.
Thank You For Sharing it… Pretty Interesting..
Great article. Thanks.
Any suggestions on where to find a list of other XPath Selectors? I’m looking to scrape the Meta Description as well.
Hi there, I’m having the same problem as Renee. My new FB business page operating hours are correct but it seems like the time zone is wrong. For example, my Mon-Fri opening hours are 830am to 53pm but when I check at any time in the day it always says “closed” and instead it shows “open” when it’s actually at night which has passed 530pm. Any advice? Thx!
Thank you for posting this info.
The URL you have seems to be incorrect.
You have -> https://www.facebook.com/mrtechnique/settings/?tab=page_attribution&ref=pages_manager
I believe it should be -> https://www.facebook.com/mrtechnique/settings/?tab=post_attribution&ref=pages_manager
Just needed to change page to post.
Too bad FB still isn’t allowing admins to post as themselves. On May 30, 2020, I did post as myself but I don’t remember if I did anything to make that happen or it was just a fluke. I’ve never been able to since.
Thanks for letting me know, Brian. I updated the URL. In the past, to post, you simply could select your personal profile from a dropdown like this:
Good info, thanks
Hi Tom,
first of all: thanks for that great article, so helpful!
I want to scrape a high number of meta descriptions for one query (>6000 results).
I do only get 100 results – do you have any idea on how to overcome that?
Thank you!
I’ve never run a query for that many results. What would you need 6000 results for? Running a query for 6000+ results might trigger a red flag with Google.
oh my goodness. I was trying to figure that out by myself for ages and almost gave up allowing the artwork to not quite look right! glad I found this page! thank you for your tips!
Emma, thanks for letting me know. It puts a big smile on my face to hear that my blog post solved your problem, and you’ve given me inspiration to write more Illustrator blogs 🙂
I think this is outdated now.. I can’t see that little logo anywhere…
Christina, thanks for letting me know. Facebook has changed a good bit since my last update to this blog post. Scroll up to learn how to do it. I haven’t updated the Android phone and tablet section yet though.
Hi Tom I have the same problem as J Kas. It looks like I’m open and hour early and closed an hour earlier than I actually am. Almost like it has me in a different time zone. It was showing closed ALL the time to everyone but myself. I think I fixed that by changing to a Local Business instead of Local Service. But the hours are off by an hour now. Early for both opening and closing. Can you please HELP ME 😫 Thank you.
J Carter and J Kas, maybe your page is set up in the wrong time zone? If you could post your FB page’s url in your reply, I could take a look at it when I have free time. Please don’t send the url in an email to troubleshoot it.
