We create and manage social media pages for a few clients in the Atlanta area, and a client asked me how to do this. I didn’t know how to do it by memory, so I searched Google for the answer. Surprisingly, I couldn’t find a blog post that showed how to do it, so I learned how to do it myself. I’ll show you how to comment as yourself personally and as the Facebook company page that you are managing, and I’ll show you how to do this from a desktop computer, tablet, and from a mobile phone.
When I say “Facebook company page”, I am referring to any Facebook company page in which you have an admin role. When I say “yourself”, I mean your personal Facebook profile.

Create a New Post on a Facebook Company Page as Yourself from a Desktop Computer
Commenting on a Facebook company page from your personal profile on a desktop computer is now pretty similar to doing it on an iPhone and iPad. Here are the steps:
1. Click your company page’s profile pic thumbnail and select your personal profile.

2. Create a post.

Comment on a Facebook Company Page’s Existing Post as Yourself from a Desktop Computer

The steps to comment on a Facebook company page’s existing post are simple. Here are the explanation of the numbers in the screenshot above:
- Click your company page’s profile pic thumbnail close to the top of the page and select your personal profile. The profile thumbnail image now floats at the top as you scroll down.
- Select your personal profile.
- Comment on a post.
You switch profiles and comment by clicking on the small profile pic with the down arrow and selecting another profile.
Comment as Yourself on a Visitor’s Post on a Facebook Company Page from a Desktop Computer
If a visitor posts on your Facebook company page, you can comment as yourself by following these steps:
1. Go to More -> Community.

2. Find the visitor post that you want to comment on, and comment on it.

Create a New Post and Comment on a Company Page as Yourself from an iPhone or an iPad
Creating a new post as yourself via the Facebook app is now possible on an iPhone and iPad! The steps are the same for either device. To do so, follow the steps as shown in this screenshot below:

- Tap the small profile image on the bottom right of your screen.
- Tap your profile.
- Tap the Posts tab that shows up above all of your page’s posts.
- Type your post and publish.
You could do step 3 first if you wanted to. To toggle back to your business page’s profile, just follow steps 1 and 2, but select your business profile.
Comment on a Visitor’s Post on a Company Page as Yourself from an iPhone or iPad
The steps are the same as commenting on a company page’s post except that you have to tap on the Community tab.

If you don’t see the Community tab, you’ll have to scroll to the right by swiping.
Create a New Post or Comment on an Existing Post as Yourself from an Android Phone or Tablet
This isn’t possible from the Facebook Android app. The buggy Post Attribution section isn’t even available on the Facebook app for Android as you can see in the screenshot below.

To create a new post or comment on an existing post as yourself on a Facebook company page from an Android phone or tablet, you would have to go to the Facebook website and follow the instructions that I created above for a desktop computer.
Did this post help you? Have you found a different way to comment personally on your Facebook company page? Have you found out how to create a new post as yourself on an iPhone or iPad? Have you found out how to create a new post or comment on an existing post as yourself on an Android phone or tablet? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading.
Facebook Android user here. No options to change to my
Personal profile for commenting as you describe!
Thank you! Very helpful.
The tiny profile image does not seem to exist in the mobile app. Can be done in Chrome on mobile, but not in the app. At least not on Android.
Chuck, thanks for pointing that out. I opened the Android version on my Chromebook to check myself. I just updated the blog post.
Mysteriously, the dropdown to change profiles on my profile only shows 1 page option. That has happened since I activated the Business Manager. Do you have any idea of what’s happening?
Yes. When you add a page to the Facebook Business Manager, that page is removed out of your personal Facebook account. If you can, you will need to remove the page from the Facebook Business Manager. If you only have one page on the Facebook Business Manager, you won’t be able to remove it. This blog post from Agora Pulse helped me with that.
Cibele, if you only have one Facebook company page in your Business Manager account, you can try to delete your business to bring it back to your personal account, but I have had any luck. You would go to this settings link, then click on the Business Info on the left side. You’ll see a button that says “Permenantly Delete Business”. I wasn’t able to do it though. Maybe you’ll have better luck.
Cibele, do you see a left arrow by your company profile? If so, perhaps clicking it could help. Click here for more info on how to do that.
Thanks for this thorough article. Unfortunately, when I click on the left arrow, it only shows my page and not my personal profile. I am one of several “editors” on the page, not the admin, and I want to be able to like posts as myself. I can’t figure out how to do that. I’ve also searched the Facebook help section, and nothing is working. Thoughts?
I figured it out! On my page, I went to Settings and then clicked Page Attribution in the left sidebar. There I had the option to post as either the page or myself. I chose myself and when I went back to the page, I could then like and comment as myself. It looks like I can’t create a new post as myself, but that’s OK. I want to write posts as my page, but then react to posts (especially posts written by other editors) as myself. This has been driving me nuts, and I’m so glad it was a simple fix! 🙂
Jenny…have you figured out how to change the Page Attribution on the mobile app? I can like posts as myself on the page that I’m an Admin as long as I’m using the desktop version of Facebook. Once I switch to the mobile app I am again reacting to posts and comments as my page and not my personal profile. I have an Android (Samsung Galaxy 8+). If anyone has figured this out for the mobile app…I’d love to hear how.
Jenny and Jill, thanks for commenting.
Jenny, I was able to create a post or comment on an existing post as myself on a desktop computer regardless of what I chose in the Post Attribution section. The only difference was if I selected the post as myself option, the post would be attributed to my personal profile by default.
Jill, on my iPhone, regardless of whether I chose to post as myself or the company page that I’m managing, the post would be attributed to the company page by default. I was able to attribute posts to myself though. Just to clear things up, on my iPhone, I am using the Facebook app and not the Facebook Pages app when I’m posting or commenting as myself.
I can’t do this on the iPhone app.
When I go to publish, it is only showing my page details and not the profile!
Does this apply to Android app? I’ve been searching and searching.
Rob, the option is there. You have to tap the down arrow by your business name.
Charlotte, this is just for the iPhone app.
Hello
Please tell me how to post on my page as my page
I dont want to post on my page as me
This used to be available but now when I switch, I can’t post at all
Please help
Hi Tom. I’m an admin for our nonprofit page and would like to add a photo to one of the comments that another admin posted as myself, not the page, but when I click on the dropdown and select my personal profile, the camera icon for posting a photo disappears. Do you have any advice? Thanks in advance.
Kurt, are you using the Facebook iPhone app? If so, I was able to reproduce the error once. I either cancelled the post or reselected my company page, and I was able to see the camera icon. I wasn’t able to reproduce the error again. Try toggling back and forth between your personal and company profile. If that doesn’t work, you could try canceling and restarting the post. Here’s a screenshot showing the camera icon when I’m posting with my personal profile on my company page:
If that doesn’t work, you could just post from your personal profile on a desktop computer. The Photo/Video option never disappears there.
Hi, Tom. Sorry, I should have been more clear…this is through the Facebook website on my laptop, not the iPhone app. I flipped back and forth with the profile, but no luck.
Kurt, on the Facebook website on my desktop, there is no camera icon. Here’s a screenshot:
I’m using Chrome on a MacBook. What browser are you using? And can you provide a screenshot of your post?
I’m not sure why you are having problems. Can you go into more detail?
when i try to click on my personal icon, it doesn’t change over on the mobile version. is there something i need to fix in settings?
is the cellular version problematic I tried but can’t ??
I haven’t had a problem with it. I use the Facebook app not the Facebook Page app. Also, I’m using an iPhone.
on Desktop, when I try to switch to my personal account, it appears as an option, but if I select it – it just stays on my Page account. Have you seen this before?
I cannot comment as myself on pages my business page has liked. I can comment as myself on mobile but not on desktop. Been like this for a long while. I have even unliked the page,
Hi Tom, in my android phone does not appear the small thumbnail image for change to my page to my profile
May 2019:
Using Samsung mobile and cannot figure out if there is an option for us other than bumping into a browser on phone. (I am well versed in desktop usage) completely frustrating I can’t get this option to work. However, Groups has an easy switch function.
Advise?
Justis and Edgar, I don’t have an Android phone, so I can’t reproduce the issue. I do have a Chromebook though. I’ll let you know if I find a solution. Jim and Cape Cod Girl, I haven’t experienced your issue.
When I’m on a FB business page, I am able to comment under my personal account. The problem is when I go to reply to people who have replied to my comments. That reply suddenly changes to a reply from my business page account. Can you tell me how to fix this?
The icon with the user-selection dropdown just isn’t there
I was battling with this too. Here’s what works for me: I have an iPhone with the Facebook ‘Pages’ app installed for the companies I am Page Admin of (Orange Flag icon) I also have the normal Facebook app on my phone (White f on blue background)
When I am commenting as the company I am posting for I use the Pages/Orange Flag App.
When I want to comment as myself on a company page, I access via my personal FB app. I type the company name in the search bar, it comes up, I go to the post and comment as myself .
When trying to comment as myself on a community page there’s actually anothe Page I am the Administrator of in the comment field. HELP!
Tom, Justis, Edgar, and Jill,
I also am having the same issue with an ANDROID phone. If you find a solution, please share it!!! Thank you!
Like many here, I also experience problems with this.
I switch on the side bar to “myself” and post the comment. Once it posts my personal icon appears next to the comment, but seconds later my name and icon are replaced with the group I manage.
Switching between web browser and the app have the same result. I effectively am unable to comment as myself unless I switch to desktop.
Did Facebook change this option? Your article is “so much” last year 😉
I can comment as everyone of my profiles. However, I cannot post a new post in any other name than my company. The option is not to be found using your guide.
I’m working from a Win 10 PC
Regards and thx for doing your bit for the internet 😉
Kim,
I just updated the blog post. I’m going to update it even more today. I’ve held off on updating any blog posts because I’ve been working on our website’s redesign for the last several months. I hope the new advice helps you, and thank you for reading my posts.
How can I comment as myself in the Facebook android app?
I see errors on mobile
Crystal, I don’t think it’s possible yet. I’ll test on my Android tablet. If I find that I can post personally on a managed Facebook company page, I’ll let you know.
Nguyen, what kind of errors?
Hi Tom
This is the best resource I’ve found that even comes close to address my issue. Hoping you have some insight.
I have admin access to three different Facebook pages. Only one of these Pages (the company I work for directly) requires me to click a grey bar at the top of the page (Go To Business Manager to Manage this page) if I want to post anything to the Page as the Company. If I do not click that bar, my posts are treated like a Visitor Post from my personal account.
I have full Admin permissions for this Page.
In my Facebook app (latest version as of 11/14/19), the company page discussed above is found under the Pages tab/submenu (orange flag). The other two are listed directly in the Menu. For those Pages, I am able to create a post, see analytics, etc.
For the Page founder under the Pages submenu, I can do none of those things on mobile. I have no Admin access of any kind.
It seems like the Business Manager is the culprit here; the two pages I can access as Admin on mobile don’t have this.
Is there any way to opt-out of it? Any insight as to what my issue could be?
Mark,
Business Manager is the culprit. Have you tried removing your business page from Facebook Business Manager? Doing so, will allow the Post Attribution feature to work again.
Thank you so much for helping me understand how to comment on a Facebook company page as myself. Man, managing all this computer stuff seems a bit too much for me. I wonder if I could hire some IT guys to help me with this.
Glad you liked the post. Just a general IT guy won’t help you with this. They need to be familiar with how Facebook works. You need a social media manager.
Please update this.
Jax,
It’s been updated multiple times. What are you having a problem with?
It’s pretty silly that the Android app process has to be so convoluted and you have to go to a computer to change who you act as (where you could just use the “post/comment/react as” menu there anyway without changing it indefinitely, which would becone a problem when you do want to post as your page and have to go to a computer again to change it, and hope you’ll want to post/comment/react as your page again next time).
Fortunately, I’ve found a workaround! Just go to your mobile browser on your Android and do it there. The regular Facebook mobile page lets you pick who to react/comment/post as, much like the non-Android options explained above (at least in Firefox and Opera, which are the Android browsers I’ve tried it in). If all else fails use “desktop site” on your mobile browser, which should also work.
Pajolovo,
I discussed the workaround at the end of this blog post.
Is it possible to comment or post in OTHER groups as the “page” rather than “myself”?
Rachel, unfortunately, I can’t answer that. That’s a whole other subject that’s outside the scope of this post.
Hi Tom, I see you have updated the post and answered a few comments, but it looks like since they removed the page attribution section – you have found no way to post a new post on a page you manage as yourself and not the page?
Thanks!
Sarahfina, I address that in the post update. Yes, they removed it, and I don’t know of a way to post a new post as yourself on a company page.
Tom,
Thanks a lot for all this info.
My problem is that on my desktop I can comment either as my company or myself. Looks like no problem on desktop.
But on the iphone, in FB app, I can’t comment on someone’s question as my company!! Only as myself!!
So it looks weird, because when I at my computer I can do company’s comment, when on iphone I can’t.
Why is it so??? No answer anywhere whatsoever!
I was so glad when I saw your site.
Maybe you can help me.
Ekaterina, have you tried the Facebook pages app?
The Facebook iphone app now seems to have the post attribution setting back – and it works too.
Unfortunately, the post attribution setting isn’t working for me on an iPhone or iPad.
So… is there no way to post to a page for which you’re an admin, as yourself?
The post attribution option described above does indeed seem to have been taken away completely, and the hack (URL) doesn’t work for me.
It would seem there is no way to post as yourself to a page you administer, but I’d love confirmation that I’m not missing something here.
Cheers
Michelle
Michelle, you’re correct. There’s not way to post as yourself on a page that you administer.
Thank you for posting this info.
The URL you have seems to be incorrect.
You have -> https://www.facebook.com/mrtechnique/settings/?tab=page_attribution&ref=pages_manager
I believe it should be -> https://www.facebook.com/mrtechnique/settings/?tab=post_attribution&ref=pages_manager
Just needed to change page to post.
Too bad FB still isn’t allowing admins to post as themselves. On May 30, 2020, I did post as myself but I don’t remember if I did anything to make that happen or it was just a fluke. I’ve never been able to since.
Thanks for letting me know, Brian. I updated the URL. In the past, to post, you simply could select your personal profile from a dropdown like this:
I think this is outdated now.. I can’t see that little logo anywhere…
Christina, thanks for letting me know. Facebook has changed a good bit since my last update to this blog post. Scroll up to learn how to do it. I haven’t updated the Android phone and tablet section yet though.
I’m hoping you can help me with a related question: how do I interact with other Facebook pages as my own business page? Facebook seems to have removed the little thing in the bottom right of a post that allowed you to switch between which profile you were interacting as.
This is frustrating because I have a personal Facebook account for my personal life – which I would prefer to keep private and separate from my professional life – and lately I’ve been having to comment on business associates’ pages with my personal account, giving people the impression that they should be sending me friend requests rather than follow my page. Is there currently any way for me to interact with pages as my own page, or am I stuck just sharing their posts?
I’m only covering how to comment as yourself on a Facebook company page. It looks like Facebook to that feature away.
Teresa, I was browsing my Facebook home feed and I found the answer to your question. To comment on another business page as a business that you own or manage, you can do so by clicking the thumbnail image. The thumbnail image should have a down arrow next to it like in this screenshot:
Thank you so much for looking into this for me! I’ve discovered that the thumbnail image only shows up for me on the News Feed, not if I go to a page or an individual post. It’s better than nothing!
Yep. That’s what you have to work with at the moment.
Thank you Tom for everything you have done. That little arrow that allows you to switch between your profile and your pages profile has disappeared . I used to be able to use the work around on Android, and my Laptop (not the app), but it seems to not allow me switch..anywhere. Wondering if it has changed for anyone else, or is it a setting I have changed incorrectly.
Mary, thanks for commenting. On a desktop computer, the icon with the arrow close to the top of a Facebook page is still there. As a matter of fact, it’s now floating as you scroll down.
The steps to comment on a Facebook company page’s existing post are simple. I am referring to any Facebook company page in which you have an admin role. This blog is interesting and helpful page. I am impress for this post. Thank you so much. It is very useful for us.
Thank you for reading my blog post on this.

Amazing article. It help me alot. Thank you so much. It is very useful for me.
Thanks for letting me know. That puts a smile on my face.
