Method 1: Drag the Pie Widgets

After creating your ellipse with the Ellipse Tool, click on it, and you’ll see a pie widget (circular handle) appear. Drag it in any direction to create the shape that you want.

Dragging the pie widgets creates a pie shape from an ellipse.

If you want to revert your pie shape back to an ellipse, just double click either pie widget.

Double clicking either pie widget reverts the pie shape back to an ellipse.

Method 2: Edit the Transform Panel

Click on the ellipse and go to the Transform Panel. If you don’t see it, open it by going to Window -> Transform. Change the angles to whatever you want. You can also invert the pie shape by clicking the opposite facing arrows underneath the angles.

You can modify your pie shape by editing the angles in the Transform Panel.

It’s that simple to create a pie shape in Illustrator. If this tutorial helped you out, please feel free to comment and/or share it on your social media page. Thanks for reading it.
