Who Links to You?

If you didn’t know, getting relevant backlinks (a link from someone else’s website that goes to your website) are key to getting great search engine results.  Want to know how links to you?  Go to Alexa.com to find out.

Alexa is one of the foremost authorities on measuring internet traffic.  They rank websites according to how much traffic they generate.  The top 3 ranking sites on Alexa as of today are Facebook, Google, and YouTube.  Facebook is thinking about starting a search engine.  I wonder how that would pan out.  They have enough user information to be successful at it.

Back to the subject at hand.  Once you’re on Alexa, type in your website address in the search bar.

That’s my website URL.  After you are done, click enter or the search button, and you’ll see a screen like this:

I’m pretty happy with being ranked at 687,341.  Back in 2007, my site was ranked around 3,000,000.  Thanks to my SEO work, I’ve been on the upswing, and it showing.  These days, most of my leads are from the internet.  Do you see where it says “Sites Linking In”?  Click that number right next to it, and you’ll see a screen like this:

You can run this check on your websites or the top websites for your keyword phrase.  Some of the links will be online directories.  If you see any, just register your website on them.  This isn’t the most accurate link checking tool, but it is far more accurate than many others.  If you know of any better link checkers, please feel free to give me your input.
