Track your website statistics with Google Analytics
If you have a website, then your hosting company probably has a stats page. So, why would you need Google Analytics then? One reason is because it gives you more detailed statistics than what your hosting company would give you. How detailed?
You can find out what areas your visitors are coming from. Google Analytics will tell you what country, what state, and even what city your visitors are from. You can see what search engines are giving you the most visitors, what keywords your visitors are typing in to find you, and even what browser they are using.
If you’re the administrator of your Google Analytics account, you can allow other people in your organization to view your statistics.
You can even set goals like when a visitor submits a contact or quote form, and find out the percentage of visitors who are doing that.
So, how can you get started with Google Analytics? You can set up Google Analytics by going here. In order to set up a Google Analytics account, you’ll need to have a Google Account. If you don’t have one, you can sign up for one right here.
Next, if you have a static website, you’ll need to cut and copy some JavaScript code. If your website is a CMS like WordPress, you just need to search for a Google Analytics plug-in, install it, and insert the ID in the appropriate spot.
